RAMP magazine’s stylish tribute to Cowboy Kate

Friday, October 16th, 2015

RAMP is an unusual and highly regarded monthly magazine published in Germany. It combines the classic lust for self expression through cars with excellent cultural, lifestyle and arts coverage. There is, to the best of my knowledge, nothing like it in the English speaking world. It’s unashamed sense of stylish fun is an alignment of values with Sam’s, who incidentally restored and rallied vintage cars as a hobby. I recently discovered, while preparing the archive for shipment to Europe, a box of his silver trophies from those competitive motoring days. [Ludwig]

Haskins Posters – T-Shirt

Tuesday, July 12th, 2011

It’s become something of an annual tradition in Japan, each year someone produces a Sam Haskins t-shirt. They are beautifully printed on excellent cotton. This year Tsuyoshi Noguchi has styled the cover shot from Sam’s book ‘Haskins Posters’ onto two versions for Traverse Tokyo. Links here and here.

Celine at Isetan in Tokyo

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

Last month, the French luxury fashion brand Celine decorated their Isetan windows in Tokyo with Sam's images and the customary elegance of their product and presentation design.

The feather is a detail from a photograph that appears in Sam's latest book 'Fashion Etcetera' (2009). The derriere-as-apple reflection first appeared in 'Photo-Graphics' (1980) and the black and white shot is from 'Cowboy Kate' (1964).
